I truly believe that a good therapist is someone that has been through their own difficulties and pain in life- trauma is how I came to do what I do today.
Without going through my own traumas in life; how could I ever begin to know how to help and guide others. My experience allows me to have empathy, compassion, strength and know how we all have the capacity to really help heal ourselves.
When I was just 22, I discovered I had a large ovarian cyst (15cm wide) growing off my right ovary; this resulted in having both the cyst and the whole of my right ovary removed. I went on and experienced an extremely traumatic pregnancy, premature labour and an emergency c-section. My baby girl was born at 28 weeks; 12 weeks premature and she was born with a significant Injury to her left arm. As you can imagine this whole encounter cast a lasting effect on me; which I was not prepared for at the age of 26. I was in a toxic abusive relationship and later I experienced grief, suffered with crippling anxiety, low mood, PMDD, lack of confidence and self worth. I was on antidepressants for years and signed off of work for not coping. It was a time in my life when I could barely function and
had reached rock bottom.
After lots of soul searching, I realised I had completely disconnected from my body; I needed to reconnect to my body and mind in order to start to heal. Essentially the only person that could help me get out of this dark place I was in, was me!
So, I started to meditate regularly, I began to try holistic healing therapies such as massage, acupuncture, reiki, hypnotherapy, shamanic healing and osteopathy. I looked at my nutrition, practiced yoga and started cold water swimming. I totally reassessed my lifestyle and made sure I was tuning in to my body daily, listening to what it needed and slowly I started to heal. With the help of an amazing functional medicine practitioner, I came off of the medication I had been reliant on for years; I worked hard on myself to build my health and my confidence back up. Along the way I met some amazingly talented practitioners and therapists, that helped me immensely, they became mentors and people still to this day, who I completely trust and am so thankful for; for the healing, the guidance, the knowledge and supporting me on my wellbeing journey. It was at this point when I decided that I wanted to help others; I had been hairdressing for 20 years helping people to feel good about themselves but I knew that I wanted to help people on a much deeper level. I developed such an interest in wellness, the human body and how it has the capacity to heal itself; this became my new passion in life and I had a deep yearning to work with the body mind connection and support others.
As soon the opportunity came around, I jumped at the chance to train in bodywork and become a massage therapist. I was lucky enough to train with the queens of massage, Meghan Mari and Rachel Fairweather at Jing Advance Massage school in Brighton; which is one of the best massage schools in the UK. This course blew my mind and I instantly felt like I was exactly where I needed to be. I am extremely proud to be a Jing trained therapist and the training I received was of the highest standard. Since then I went on to train in facial cupping with Sankina, ‘The facial cupping expert’. I then studied with the amazing Brett Moran and gained my Bodhi Meditation and breath work teacher training qualification and more recently Womb and fertility therapy with Claire Spink; who is renowned for this work and has a wealth of wisdom in this field. It was my training with Claire that ignited my deeper passion of working with Women’s health, releasing trauma and working with the womb and fertility- I instantly connected with this work and felt completely in alignment with all the teachings.
Fast forward to the present moment- I am a Mum to my two beautiful girls and our gorgeous dog Lenny. I am in a loving relationship, engaged to a the most kind, caring and supportive Man and fulling my dream of guiding others on their wellness journey.
Of course, I am human and I still have life to work through which isn’t always easy but I have come so very far from the shell of the person I used to be, I really wouldn’t change my past, as it really does make me who I am today and I am so very grateful for that.
It is now my job to support and guide you on your healing journey; to see you reclaim your power, happier, healthier and more connected in life. This is so very achievable and through my experience in life and the training I have embarked on, I am so here for you.
